Today, 800+ automakers, insurers, auto agents and telematics execs including Allstate, Progressive, Liberty Mutual, Farmers Insurance and Ford have united at Insurance Telematics USA 2014 to discuss how to position UBI as a mainstream product by delivering undisputable value to consumers.
America’s largest gathering of UBI experts, hosted by Telematics Update, is underway at the Radisson Aqua Blu hotel in Chicago. The 80+ expert speakers are senior UBI executives from the most innovative insurers, brokers and automakers, leading the way into insurance telematics. Allstate, Progressive, Liberty Mutual, Tata Consultancy Services, US Department of Transport and Ford are all taking to the stage this week. Critical topics being addressed include how regulations will impact auto insurance and UBI going forward, disruptive new entrants to market such as Google and the growing role of the automaker in the insurance industry.
Harriet Molyneaux, project director, Telematics Update, is on the ground at Insurance Telematics USA 2014. “This is a unique atmosphere whereby everyone sees the potential of the UBI insurance segment but there is still much to learn. Exciting times! We’ve seen some great presentations and heard some valuable insights this morning from The Hartford, Towers Watson and Octo Telematics to name a few, and we’re just getting started”. She followed, “This really is the only place where you can see the insurance telematics ecosystem evolving and come together under one roof.”
This morning, attendees got to hear an exclusive panel on the impact disruptors, such as Google and Apple, are having on the UBI market, and how Automakers are making their move into UBI. Insights into the UBI landscape in the US were given by Tower Watson, examining the market to date and looking at upcoming developments that will increase uptake.
